Meetings where nothing gets decided
I didn't need to be there!!
No agenda and no clear owner of decisions.
I am invited to meeting I don't need to be in.
They really do not want my input!
too many “Spectators” vs decision makers
Usually there are only a couple of people who participate and the rest are just listening in. They add nothing to the discussion.
No resolution or decision
Lack of completed deliverables
Going off topic
No solid outcomes.
Doesn't follow agenda
follow through incomplete
Right people to make decisions aren't in the meeting
Do not adhere to start and stop times and don't follow the agenda
Spending time off-topic
have a hard time getting my input heard with everyone else speaking up and not giving turns
Going through the motions same old same old
Revisiting decisions already made
not starting on time!
not mindful of attendees time
no agenda, no outcomes
Lack of participation from the group
spending the first half recapping the previous meeting
Agree with Elizabeth - hard to get a word in edge-wise...when working remote.
Past oriented vs future oriented
Agree with Elizabeth - ramblers and interrupters
Getting people moving in the same direction vs all nodding heads.
Agreement: Everyone agreed to agreement
Everyone may not agree but achieve buy in
alignment brings the meeting focus back to main vision...not to just have agreement.
Agreement - is more consensus - Alignment is everyone is on the same page--heading in the same direction--in synch with org objectives
Alignment - moving in the same direction but not all agreeing on the way there
Alignment: Everyone on same page
What we SAY versus what we DO (i.e. yes, but no follow-through on actions).
You may agree to do something but is it aligned with our mission, values and goals
Agreement is consensus. Alignment is understanding the direction even if everyone does not agree.
alignment with goals, mission, expectations. May not be agreement on how to get there exactly
Alignment involves my plans and intent, not just mental agreement
Agreement is compliance Alignment is working in unison
when you are not in alignment, just like your car, you will head in the wrong direction
I love that, Margaret.
Too many times to count
All the time
Many participants insist on being involved but say nothing. 80-20 rule.
spectators shouting and distracting from purpose
Consensus is frustrating
20% contribute 80% dont
Disjointed and slow or unproductive
Need to invite SMEs and decision makers.
Good point - why are we here?
I'd rather have the active delegation vs. "who wants to volunteer?" lines.
Isn't that a huge problem in various levels of government??
if the decision is already made, it's a wasted meeting.
can be even more damaging that way too.
Involvement is required in order to get commitment
What a grace filled way to say it.
prefer to have the face-to-face communication, with a written follow up on that discussion to review/reinforce what was said.
Ownership! accountability to a decision is hard
Participation is most challenging because we involve too many people
Ownership & follow up

follow-up, to sustain momentum
